How do I get involved?

It can be hard to know where to get started as a member of staff or patient or member of the public looking to start or continue their research journey.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight has a wide range of research and innovation organisations which you can explore on the research information and infrastucture page.

Getting involved as a member of the public or a patient?

Most of our research teams across Hampshire and Isle of Wight have opportunities for patients, the public and communities to get involved. This is often referred to as patient and public involvement (PPI). The  National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) defines public involvement as: “Public involvement in research is research carried out 'with' or 'by' members of the public rather than 'to', 'about' or 'for' them.”
