Since the start of the Autumn COVID vaccination programme in September, more than 500 people a day have received their vaccination at the Andover Health Hub.
The programme is being delivered in partnership between the Andover Primary Care Network and Test Valley Borough Council.
Anyone eligible can book their COVID-19 and flu vaccination via the NHS website www.nhs.uk, by downloading the NHS App, or by calling 119 for free if they can’t get online. Those eligible include people aged 65 and over, pregnant women and those with an underlying health condition.
GP practices and other local NHS services will also be contacting people to offer both flu and COVID-19 vaccines and eligible people are also able to book their vaccines through their local participating pharmacies.
In addition to delivering the COVID-19 vaccination programme, Andover Primary Care Network (PCN) are looking to provide winter Wellness sessions to deliver additional primary and preventative health support to the most vulnerable members of our population going into the winter months.
Dr Sarah Sierens, Strategic Clinical Director at the Andover Health Hub said: “The continued success of the Andover Health Hub couldn't have been achieved without the support of Test Valley Borough Council. I am extremely proud of the hard work and dedication of all the Primary Care Network team in making the COVID vaccination delivery one of our primary objectives this winter.
“If anyone is unsure if they qualify for a COVID vaccination, please feel free to come to the Health Hub and talk to our clinical personnel there or call the HIOW Covid Vaccination Helpline on 0300 561 0018.”
Dr Matt Nisbet, Hampshire GP and clinical lead for the COVID-19 vaccination programme, said: “Vaccines are one of the best ways to protect yourself against respiratory illnesses that become more common in the winter months.
“The new COVID-19 variant presents a new risk, and I’m pleased to see so many people get their vaccinations.
“I strongly encourage all eligible people to come forward for their lifesaving winter vaccines as soon as they can. Especially as you can also make sure you are vaccinated against both flu and COVID-19 at the same time, saving you time and keeping you healthy.”
Leader of Test Valley Borough Council, Cllr Phil North, said: ‘The central location of the health hub in Andover makes it easy for people to drop in and get treatments such as vaccinations. I’m so pleased that we’ve been able to support this initiative by providing the space and using our shared prosperity fund to help upgrade the facilities.’
