Basingstoke Health Hub in Festival Place is set to be officially opened by Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane, Cllr Paul Miller, on June 13.
The new community-focused Health Hub, on Queen Anne’s Walk in Festival Place, is currently offering COVID vaccinations for everyone over the age of five. People aged 16 and over, and some children aged 12 to 15, can also get a booster dose. People can book an appointment using the national booking system.
Hampshire GP and Clinical Director at the Hampshire, Southampton and Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning Group, Dr Tim Cooper, said: “This is a great opportunity for us to get involved in the local community and make health services more convenient to the people living in Basingstoke.
“We are currently using the new facility to provide COVID vaccinations however we are aiming to grow the number of services we run from the health hub, building it into a centre which gives the local community the help they need most at a place that’s convenient to them.
“We really think that this ‘healthcare on the High Street’ model could make it easier for more people to get the help they need and support patients to think differently about how they access healthcare. We’re keen to try it out and see if it can add to the current landscape of healthcare in Basingstoke.”
Neil Churchill, Centre Director at Festival Place, said: “We take great pride in supporting our Basingstoke community and know how important it is for people to get easy access to health services.
“We are delighted to be able to help and provide an accessible space here at Festival Place.”
The Health Hub will be open seven days a week, between 11am and 5pm. For more details, visit www.festivalplace.co.uk.
Anyone eligible who has not yet taken up the offer of a first, second or booster dose is encouraged to do so to ensure they are as protected as possible from the virus. The offer of a COVID-19 jab is not time-limited so anyone invited can have the vaccine – even if they have previously declined and changed their mind.
To cancel or move a COVID-19 vaccine appointment booked through National Booking Service, please visit the website or call 119 (open between 7am and 11pm daily).
If you need to cancel or move an appointment booked via a pharmacy or your GP practice, please contact them directly.
You can also contact the Hampshire and Isle of Wight COVID-19 helpline on 0300 561 0018 (Open between 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 1pm at weekends).
