Lara Alloway, Chief Medical Officer, NHS Hampshire & Isle of Wight said: “We would like to share our deepest regrets, heartfelt sympathies and sincere apologies with all those affected by the tragic use of infected blood in the 1970s and 1980s. The report by the public enquiry shows this was an unacceptable tragedy and our public can rest assured that we will act swiftly on any learning’s as a result of the report’s findings.
“Today’s modern safeguards, including strict guidelines and testing are extremely rigorous to prevent anyone being given infected blood.
