Many children in Andover have attended the free Make and Munch events this summer along with their families.
The events took place every Wednesday afternoon for 5 weeks at the King Arthurs Way community centre to help provide a safe environment for local children to get involved in doing some fun, easy craft activities. The crafts used simple materials such as card, stickers, colouring pens, crepe paper, paper plates and cups.
For the first and final sessions, the Life Bus came and parked in the car park by the King Arthurs Community Hall. The Life Bus, which is part of the Lighthouse in Andover is a multipurpose, high tech converted double decker bus designed to provide a mobile facility to those who are vulnerable, isolated or have an issue accessing provision.
Children from King Arthurs and Roman Way areas in Andover were invited to go along to the free sessions where a picnic lunch was also provided for each child. Between four and eight families attended each session.
Helen Coleman, Transformation Manager for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board said: “It was such a lovely event to see local children and their families take time out of their day to come along and spend time together, getting involved in craft activities and having lunch with others.
“We would also like to thank you to everyone involved in putting the events together and we hope to do it again next summer.”
The project involved The Lighthouse St Marys Church, Unity, Test Valley Borough Council, King Arthurs Way Community Association and the Healthier Communities Project Hampshire and Southampton Integrated Care Board (NHS). Morrisons also helped provide lunch, fruit and snacks for the children.
