RESIDENTS are urged to grab their COVID-19 booster jab without delay as thousands more vaccines are made available across Hampshire and Isle of Wight this New Year.
A raft of walk-ins are being provided by GP practices, at outreach clinics, hospital hubs and mass vaccination centres and slots for booked appointments continue to be regularly added to the National Booking Service.
More than 3.6m COVID-19 jabs have been delivered across Hampshire and Isle of Wight since the launch of the biggest vaccination programme in the history of the NHS a year ago.
Health and care teams continue to do all they can to encourage everyone eligible to take up the offer of a COVID-19 jab as soon as possible. The offer is not time-limited so anyone invited can have the vaccine – even if they have previously declined and changed their mind.
Dr Matt Nisbet, GP and Clinical Lead of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight COVID-19 Vaccination Programme, said: “Our local NHS has done an amazing job in expanding vaccination capacity in the run up to Christmas and New Year. Now it’s your turn to do your bit to protect yourself and others by booking in or attending a walk-in or booking an appointment to get your jab.
"Please don’t put this off - the sooner you get a booster, the sooner you’ll increase your protection against the virus.”

Angela Anderson, Clinical Director of the Solent Vaccination Programme and Deputy Chief Nurse at Solent NHS Trust, said: “Getting your booster is vital in helping to protect yourself and your loved ones from COVID-19. We also welcome those people who would like their first of second dose. We have capacity across our centres, with walk-ins on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
"It’s also really easy to book your appointment online by logging on to the National Booking Service. Don’t delay in getting yours.”
Adults in Hampshire and Isle of Wight can also access their COVID-19 jab in the following ways:
- Via a local GP service: GP practices are working together across the county to vaccinate as many people as possible. Residents may be contacted by a different surgery to the one they usually go to.
- At a vaccination centre: in our area we have centres at St James's Hospital in Portsmouth, Riverside on the Isle of Wight and Oakley Road in Southampton.
- Some local pharmacies: NHS England and Improvement has arranged for some pharmacies in Hampshire and Isle of Wight to provide the booster vaccination on an appointment basis. People can book an appointment at a pharmacy via the National Booking System online or by calling 119.
- Via a walk-in clinic: full details here.
Anyone unable to attend a COVID-19 jab slot booked through National Booking Service is asked to please visit the website or call 119 (open between 7am and 11pm daily). Anyone who would like to cancel or move an appointment booked via a GP practice is asked to do so via the link they followed when they received their text message invitation (Acubook). We kindly ask that people do not call their GP practice. Thank you.
