NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight has partnered with global pharmaceutical company, Boehringer Ingelheim, to launch a new initiative aimed at improving chronic kidney disease screening across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. This collaboration focuses on identifying and supporting individuals at higher risk of developing chronic kidney disease, particularly those affected by health inequalities.

Local resident and Transformation Manager for NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight, Helen Coleman, has been awarded the prestigious Action Hampshire Changemaker Award for Innovation in Community, Partnership and Development. The award recognises Helen’s significant contribution to increasing young people’s involvement in, and influence on, health and social care locally.

Thanks to the help of Dora, an artificial intelligent telephone assistant, average waiting times for low complexity cataract surgery for patients in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight has reduced from 35 weeks at the beginning of January 2024, to 10 weeks or less.

A new £84,000 pilot project has launched on the Isle of Wight, including all 12 GP practices, to improve bowel cancer screening rates and increase awareness within the local community. This will help to detect cancer earlier and save lives.

The NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight Student Council are inviting all health profession students, wherever they may be studying, to share how they can be best supported, while they make the transition from student to professional.
