The Care and Health Information Exchange (CHIE) is a secure IT system which holds the most up to date and recent health and social care information from GP surgeries, hospitals, community and mental health, social services and others. CHIE can be accessed by care providers in the Hampshire and Isle of Wight area over the internet to instantly look up medical information on behalf of a resident or client you are delivering care to.
Some examples of medical information that can be found on CHIE include:
- Allergies
- Appointments
- Care plans
- Correspondence
- Diagnoses
- Medications
- Referrals
- Test results
Having access to CHIE saves a lot of time for care staff. It means that rather than having to make a phone call to a GP surgery, or wait for a letter to be sent from a GP, the information can be searched for and found as soon as the GP updates their own records.
